HTX Fire had a chance to be in Austin, TX over the weekend of July 13-14, 2015. Primetimesportz sponsored the Tournament of Hope, in which each team wore pink to support the survivors and remembering the loved ones that have been taken away by breast cancer. Our own HTX Fire 2023 and 2022 teams went to Austin, TX to represent HTX Hoops for the non profit Tournament of Hope over the weekend. It was a fun event in which our HTX Fire had a chance to play some new Texas girl teams.
Our HTX Fire 2022 team played in a tough 5th-6th grade division. They were tested in every aspect of the game and looked really well doing it. Fire 2022 have come together and are playing like they have been playing together for years. The chemistry is looking wonderful for a first year team and the girls are trusting each other more on the Fire 2022 team. HTX Fire 2022 made each game close and played well throughout the entire tournament. HTX Fire 2022 have been exposed to different teams all season long and they have really stepped up their game in each area of passing, inside shooting, outside shooting and my favorite – defense. The girls did a terrific job.
HTX Fire 2023 went to Austin chanting, “WE PLAY – HARD” in the fourth grade division of the Tournament of Hope over the weekend. The 2023 Fire started out the tournament with two teams they have never seen or heard of before. The 2023 team cruised through the two teams victoriously. HTX Fire 2023 played two more games the following day. The first game the girls played tuned them up for the Championship game later on in the afternoon. HTX Fire 2023 played for first place and ended up with another Trophy for HTX Hoops for the 2015 season. The 2023 HTX Fire only allowed one team to out of four teams to score in double digits. The Fire 2023 team insisted on playing tough defense in the Tournament of Hope.
Great job to the HTX Fire 2023 and 2022 teams over the weekend. The girls did a wonderful job against some teams they have never seen before in the great state of Texas. All of our HTX Fire girls that traveled to Austin really pushed themselves. They played the weekend before and practiced hard all week long. We are proud of the girls and their efforts each week. Keep on working hard in order to play hard. HTX Hoops would like to thank all of the parents who traveled long and far through the traffic over the weekend to Austin, TX in order for the girls to play in the Non Profit Tournament of Hope. All of the funds from the tournament went to the research for breast cancer. We enjoyed watching our HTX Fire girls play to the best of their capabilities. We will continue to push our girls. The season is almost over – we are getting ready to end the season on a high note….
